J1 League

The J1 League, officially known as the Meiji Yasuda J1 League for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football (soccer) league in Japan. It is the highest division of the J. League, which was established in 1993. The league consists of 18 teams that compete annually for the championship. Matches typically take place from February to December, following a round-robin format where each team faces all other teams twice, once at home and once away. Points are awarded for wins and draws, with the team accumulating the most points at the end of the season crowned as the champion. Teams that finish at the bottom of the table may face relegation to the J2 League, which is the second tier of professional football in Japan. The J1 League is known for its competitive nature, skilled players, and passionate fan base, contributing to the growth of football in Japan.
